We Realized Our First Press Launch

As Runkara, Ankara's First International Half Marathon, we held our first press launch on Tuesday, June 13 at JW Marriott Hotel.

Important names such as Ankara Deputy Governor Ayhan Özkan, Ankara Metropolitan Deputy Mayor Sercan Çığgın, Turkish Athletics Federation President Fatih Çintimar, the founder of the organization Victoria Blyth and the committee chair of the organization Carlo Capalbo attended our launch.

Speaking at our launch, Ankara Deputy Governor Özkan stated that they were very excited for Runkara and said, 'This event will be an important organization that includes many beauties. Sports have a great impact on building a brand city. As Ankara, we fully support such events. Last year, we hosted important sports competitions. I would like to state that Mr. Governor will also participate in the organization.'

The Deputy Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Çığgın emphasized that the capital will host a high-level organization and said, 'These kinds of events add great value to the host cities. As Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, we will be a partner in this event with our means.'

The President of the Turkish Athletics Federation Çintimar stated that the first international half marathon accredited by the World Athletics Federation will be held in Ankara. Çintimar, '50 years ago, only 6 people participated in the Istanbul Marathon, but today it has become one of the most important marathons in the world. In Ankara, the RunCzech team is taking this big step. As the Federation, we wish to develop this organization with the power of our state.'

Our founder Victoria Blyth expressed with great excitement that the Runkara event would suit Ankara very well. Stating that it will be an event that Ankara will be proud of, Blyth said that the aim of the organization is to be repeated every year and added to the city's cultural calendar. Runkara will have a full weekend and offer unforgettable experiences to sports fans. In addition, a sports and technology fair will be hosted as part of the event. In this way, Runkara will not only bring together jogging lovers, but will also be a platform where technology and sports meet. Victoria Blyth added that Ankara deserves this event and that it will attract great touristic interest to the city.

Our committee chairman, Carlo Capalbo, known as the 'king of marathons', emphasized that they will implement the project they started two years ago, and gave a great deal of attention. He spoke excitedly. Stating that their aim is to organize an event that everyone benefits from in the city, Capalbo stated that Runkara will be a start with a half marathon and that they will gradually expand the organization. Stating that they will witness a high-level sports performance in Runkara, Capalbo said that important names will participate in the competition. Emphasizing that Türkiye and Ankara definitely deserve this event, Capalbo stated that the event will make a great contribution to the city in terms of tourism and emphasized that Runkara is a big step for Ankara and that the event will activate the sports and tourism potential of the city.
